Megan Allison Wade
I’m the most marketing person on the tech leadership team, and the most technical person on the marketing leadership team.
Fifteen years standing between what marketing needs and what engineering can actually build, and making sure the thing that ships is both. Right now that means building a company, taking on a few outside engagements a year, and writing about the distance between how privacy is supposed to work and how it actually works.
Building
Current Signals. You know the banner you click through on every website now? Half the time it doesn’t work on the other end. You reject tracking and it happens anyway. We’re fixing that. I’m co-founder and Chief Product Officer.

Select engagements. A few a year: marketing technology architecture, customer data platforms and identity, measurement and experimentation, or leading the function on a fixed term. Most of it lives in the gaps between marketing, engineering, infosec and legal. I’m the glue.

Substack and Bluesky. Fifteen years building the systems that profile you, the last eight of them under EU privacy law. I write about what that taught me, on Substack at length and on Bluesky when it’s shorter than that.
Read →Eight years at Gap Inc., working up through roles across the business and tech to Senior Director of E-Commerce and Digital. From there into marketing technology and customer data more directly: running experimentation around the world at Delivery Hero, then building the infrastructure that tracks customer identity and behavior across a business at idealo, and getting it ready for a wave of EU digital regulation.
I came up through measurement and attribution, the systems that tell a company who its customers are and what’s working. Regulation arrived as a constraint on top of that: rules about what you’re allowed to track, and how you have to prove it. I didn’t start as a privacy person. I became one because the problem was in front of me and somebody had to solve it properly.
